Two new H-E-B grocery stores are coming to Denton

South Texas-founded H-E-B has gradually expanded northward, making loyal customers along the way. Two locations are slated to open in Denton. So, what's the big deal about another grocery store?

When and where

The Robson Ranch location, at the northwest corner of Interstate 35W and Robson Ranch Road, has been under construction since fall 2025 and is expected to open in early 2027.

Robson Ranch Road

Although there has been chatter around town, the Robson Ranch location will not be the company's biggest store in Texas. It also won't include a gas station. Mabrie Jackson, H-E-B and Central Market's managing director of public affairs, confirmed both claims this week.

The second Denton location, on 2210 W. University Drive at Bonnie Brae Street, will start construction this month -- opening fall 2027.

Why H-E-B?

Jackson says H-E-B locations in Denton will allow residents to shop nearby instead of having to drive to Frisco, Plano or Alliance.

"For more than 120 years, H-E-B has prided itself in taking care of Texans not just with high-quality, distinctive grocery products and top-notch customer service, but we take care of the communities we serve with our disaster and hunger relief efforts as well as our dedication to public education, the arts and social services organizations," Jackson said.

These two locations will also employ around 700 H-E-B partners -- the company's name for employees.

The details that count

In addition to fresh food, quality products and convenience services, these stores will also include H-E-B's distinctive Meal Simple department offering fresh, convenient meals prepared in-store; a bakery department featuring a variety of breads, cakes and H-E-B's famous tortillas; charcuterie boards; sushi and sashimi; a Healthy Living department; Texas Backyard department with plants, pottery and grills; a pharmacy with drive-thru service; and an expanded floral department that offers online ordering and delivery. And, True Texas BBQ.
