A restaurant and nightclub that's become a Toronto staple during its time in business just confirmed that, after this weekend, it'll be closing "forever."

Though it maintains its reputation as Toronto's undisputed (albeit overrated) party hub, mounting closures in recent years have plenty of the city's residents all asking the same question: Is King West dying?

Sure, you've got your popular restaurants like Primadonna and Public Gardens, along with nightlife staples like Locals Only and Lavelle, which still manage to pack in considerable numbers, but, whether due to sky-high rents, construction, or the mass migration to Ossington, the party scene on the strip just isn't what it used to be.

The news of the latest closure on King West is just further proof of that. After four illustrious years of DJ sets and dolce vita, the ever-popular Pizza Wine Disco is closing for good after the weekend of Saturday, March 14.

"After over four incredible years, this weekend will be our final one," an Instagram post shared by Pizza Wine Disco's Instagram reads.

"Thank you to everyone who supported us, worked with us, and made this place what it was. For one last time, make your move."

However heartbreaking for those who came of legal drinking age in the late 2010s and post-COVID era, the closure doesn't exactly come as a huge surprise.

Rumours of the club's impending closure began to rumble late in the summer of 2025, when a real estate listing for the Italian restaurant was posted on social media.

At the time, Liberty Entertainment Group, Pizza Wine Disco's parent company, told blogTO that the hospitality company was merely selling the space to move the concept into a bigger, better location.

The verbiage of the restaurant's March 11 Instagram post, which reads, "Pizza Wine Disco closes its doors forever after this weekend," is remarkably decisive, however. If the concept of Pizza Wine Disco is to come back at any point, this sure makes it seem like it'll be under a new name.

The city will simply have to wait and see what Liberty Entertainment Group has in store for Pizza Wine Disco, and whether this really is the end of the Italian restaurant-discoteca concept as we know it, but, on the bright side, the weekend before St. Patrick's Day is as good as any to swing by for one last night out to say goodbye.
